Assessment of Potential Ecotourism Site in Xaisomboun, Central Laos

Appropriate ecotourism planning is crucial for sustainable development in developing countries including Laos. The primary objective of this research was to identify the potential sites order assist and decision making ensure natural forest resource management. GIS data analysis undertaken assess ecotourism. We used seven factors describing biophysical characteristics; cover, water, elevation, slope, proximity village, road accessibility historical attractive sites. It found that there around 1200 ha entire area Xaisomboun province which most suitable inland recreational activities, about 1980 beautiful ecological sceneries, roughly 1143 tourism activity sites, finally 1031 a total multipurpose activities.
